Whole Foods Grand Opening!

Boise has a Whole Foods! Grand opening was on Wednesday at 10am, but they had a free oatmeal breakfast at 9:30. Cassia and  went, she had a "nana" and "bobos" (banana and berries) and I had a banana and free coffee (I was cold and it was free, it was good but still like tea more).  While we were eating a little boy about Cassia' age waved at her from his dad's shoulder.

Me: Cassia can you say hi to that baby?
Cassia: NO

OK then.

We saw the people who run it, who I guess have wanted to build this store for 6 years and Whole Foods was really excited to be here. They are going to  be working with a few local charities like the Boise Bike Project and Boise Urban Garden plus local farms. Our mayor was there, Mayor Beiter, plus the BSU marching band. It was packed, Jerad went after work and it was still busy. I need to go back without a tired baby so I can do more shopping but I did find chai tea, mint soap, a new shopping bag, and  a thumbprint cookie for Cassia. We took Jerad a snack at work, Meyer lemonade, red ginger lemonade, and a caramel pretzel brownie. We missed it but we need to go back, we had a sample on the way out of curried hummus and it was amazing. We love Whole Foods!!

(no worries Boise Co-op, we still love you too)

Breakfast at Zell's (Portland)

We found a local breakfast place off the beaten path, and it was amazing. I had salmon scrambled eggs, Jerad had Italian sausage scramble, and Liam had German pancakes with rhubarb and whipped cream (viola!). Cassia, as you can see, has her own ideas about how to sit at a table and enjoyed stealing food from all of us.

I want to add that the restaurant owners were amazingly accommodating for kids and brought Liam and Cassia scones with blackberry jam and a basket of toys. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing.

"Liam where are your pants?"

Liam eats breakfast with less clothing than most people eat breakfast. "Why aren't you wearing pants?" "To keep me cool and cozy"

Yesterday Cassia was crying while he was in the bathroom. "Don't worry baby!" He yells "I will come get you when I am done pooping"

breakfast with Cassia

She enjoys some rice cereal and lids. Later scoots backwards on the floor and puts her foot in Liam's cereal.

millions of peaches, peaches for me

For breakfast Liam and I shared a peach, Cassia pretends to eat a hamburger. The peach was OK, not as good as the ones from everyone's favorite orchard in Oklahoma though.

A good morning

Cassia hangs out on her new quilt and plays with a toy, Liam enjoys toast with peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut spread (thank you Boise Co-op). He was surprised by the chocolate "what?! there's no corn syrups on this?! I can eat this! for me??" I told Jerad who replied "he's awesome"

So ready for school

Liam asked for breakfast in a lunchbox this morning. His preferred menu:
  • banana and peanut butter sandwich
  • chocolate milk
  • plums
  • bananas
  • juice
  • cherry candycane
I negotiated him down to pb and banana sandwich, half a plum, and juice. He also ended up finishing off half of my banana I put in my Rice Chex. (most Chex cereal is gluten free, btw). I put his sandwich on a hot pan for a few minutes and sorta grilled it, he loved it. Nice breakfast on a chilly rainy morning in Boise.

as you can see from the picture, he has a bit of a cold and wasn't super happy about morning photography

I copied my cousin and made a blog. I'm unoriginal like that.

OK...so I had been thinking about making this for a while. Since most our family and a lot of friends live out of state this is a good way to keep everyone who cares posted on what Liam is up to and answer the question "what do you eat!?" that I am always getting asked.

Enjoy! As Liam is enjoying his gluten free pancakes smile.
