Birthday Hike!

It was windy (my birthday does not really fall on hiking weather) but we ventured out anyway. We found a new path closer to our house and headed out. We'll definitely have to go back and go father when it's a little nice. Liam even made a map to follow with a winding river, giant spiders, and big volcanoes.

we're home!

What's this? What's this? I can't believe my eyes! Wake up Jack this isn't fair! WHAT'S THIS?!

SNOW! First snow of 2012! Which doesn't sound too impressive until you remember that we had 0 snow in 2011 and this is Boise (the temperate desert of Idaho). I took both kids and both dogs out this morning and played in the snow. Cassia didn't last too long but starred at all the trees the whole time she was out. Bella remembered her glory days of running away and had to be held pretty tight. The snow wasn't quite moist enough for a snowman but we did mold a snow monster that had spikes (twigs) and an orange tongue (carrot). Liam filled my hood with snow as well. That sound you hear is my coat in the dryer.

First hiking Trip of 2012

Back to our favorite hiking paths in Reserve Park. We only went for about an hour, but it was a much needed sanity saver for all of us. Liam lead the way and Cassia ate leaves. We drove past our old place and Liam said "we used to live here but then we got ants in my room that bite me and eat me". Good bye bed bugs, we do not miss you.

Playing post-Gingerbread house assembly

Sierra and Heidi came over to help us build our gingerbread house. Cassia didn't help with the assembly but ddi enjoy part of the roof. 

Santa

We saw Santa, who conveniently is neighbors with my friend Susan. Liam asked only for "a present". Cassia didn't ask for anything. Both enjoyed a post-Santa sugar cookie and Liam had some cocoa. 

Gingerbread train

The three of us went to Heidi and Sierras last night and made a gingerbread train. Liam and Sierra decorated and then decorated cookies. Sierra made a cookie with a smile face, Liam made one with spider eyes.
Cassia had fun too. She got a sugar choke and managed to unwrap and eat half a candy cane before Heidi caught her.
